Chapter Seven

Taur

The faewolf and I hold a silent battle of wills as I cradle the female in my arms and relay orders to our friends. I'm not usually so authoritative, but with Arin becoming the focal point of my attention, I feel it is only my right as her intended mate that I direct this performance.

My heart still aches from witnessing the kiss between her and Camry. I barely held onto the faewolf when it tried to surge into being and rip the Vennex into bloody confetti. It desires her desperately, is determined to claim that tight hole she now denies us access to, but unfortunately, Cam is the ideal candidate for the job if we don't wish to hurt her.

It annoys me.

Grumbling, both males slink off to do as I ordered. Their respective assignments won't take them long, but it gives me just enough time to speak with Arin and ascertain her feelings on where this is taking us as a group. It may be asking too much of her after Mika's harsh rutting.

“They're going to phlak you, little moth. We're going to share you, all three of us, and show you how a lucky female is treated by her mates. But before I take you down into the cargo hold, I want you to tell me if you're okay with this. We'll respect your answer, but in order to do so, I need one from you.”

She glowers up at me from the cradle of my arms, an adorable and most perfect bundle of arousal and attitude. I do like the feel of her naked skin beneath my palms, but there's an overwhelming urge to bend her over something and drill my cock into her until the scent of Mika on her skin fades. Unfortunately, that won't happen until the eggs he placed inside her leave the safety of her body. For now, they secrete a hormone through her blood, identifying the paternity of the clutch.

“The engine won't repair itself, Taur,” she snipes at me, green eyes afire. “Do whatever you want after we're mobile again, okay?”

It's a logical request. She is the only one who knows the intricacies of the system she built, and we do need to regain mobility if we are to survive, especially when Councilman Exor is apparently behind our diversion into the asteroid belt. But she's also laden with eggs, and Mika won't permit her to engage in strenuous physical activities like hauling engine parts across the cavernous cargo bay.

However, the faewolf is not renowned for being logical or patient. “We'll take a look at the engine, Arin, and see if there's anything we can do. Until those eggs develop, you're to be guarded for your own safety, and phlaked to keep you healthy. Mika thinks every four to six hours, but between the three of us, you'll be attended to more frequently.”

“You said you'd respect my decision!” she protests.

“I also said I needed an answer, and you haven't given me a definitive one,” I reply with irritating casualness.
